High-Contrast Staircase Remodelling

This renovation focused on transforming a potentially dated or basic entryway staircase into a striking, contemporary architectural element. What We Changed

• Railing System: Replaced traditional spindles with a sleek horizontal cable railing system, utilizing thin metal rods . This change creates transparency, maximizing light and sightlines.

• Handrails and Newel Posts: Installed new, richly stained wood handrails and newel posts. The warm wood tone balances the coolness of the metal cables.

• Treads and Risers: Refinished the stair treads with a deep, natural wood stain that matches the surrounding hardwood floors, and painted the risers a crisp white. This high-contrast combination grounds the structure.

• Minimalist Design: The entire system relies on clean lines and simple geometry, eliminating visual clutter and enhancing the modern, minimalist feel of the adjacent living spaces.

• Flooring Integration: The finished steps now flow seamlessly into the beautiful dark hardwood flooring visible in the living and dining areas, maintaining material continuity.
